"So, i think i
might book a flight to jakarta, is there any good cultural attractions or
any interesting places i should visit?" Saya menerawang, berpikir,
mungkin hampir sepuluh detik, sampai si lawan bicara mengernyitkan mata. "Well uhm.. I
dont know..," hampir terdengar seperti gumaman, saya menjawab. Merasa bodoh sekaligus bingung. Saya
harus jawab apa? Beda urusan kalau dia ingin mengunjungi Bali atau Yogyakarta? I dont think anyone should go to jakarta if they were in
search for a real nice holiday.
Dua hari kemudian di tempat
yang sama, seorang pria asal Yokohama merokok bersama saya. "So
tell me something about Jakarta," kata dia, dengan bahasa Inggris
patah-patah dan logat Jepang yang kental. "Hmm i can describe jakarta in
a very short phrases," jawab saya. "It i the capital of Indonesia, one of the busiest
cities, killer traffic, and crowded." Saya menjelaskan dengan lancar. "Oh, so it's pretty much similar like Tokyo! It is also the capital of japan,"
dia menimpali dengan mata sipit yang berbinar.
"You know Galuh-san, Tokyo also very crowded. And the traffic jam.. Sucks."
"Still it's different, Jakarta is one polluted city and with all the humidity, it's totally different."
"Aah same as tokyo, it also polluted."
"Aaah, you know what? i think you should just come and see by yourself."
Lalu
tepat dua hari lalu, kala tengah menikmati makan siang yang nikmat di
sebuah restoran perancis yang manis, seorang jurnalis Vietnam bertanya
pada saya, "One day, I would love to go visit Indonesia, maybe to Jakarta? Please tell me more about Jakarta." Oh hell, oke bumi, tolong telan aku sekarang juga! Why it's always another same damn question? E-very-time! Jurnalis Vietnam itu teras terang menganggu
kenikmatan soup du jour yang seharusnya menjadi apetizer saya siang itu.
Sialan. Lalu disebelahnya seorang jurnalis Thailand dan Singapura
mengomentari. "Do you know that many of poor people in indonesia are
incredibly creative?" Hmm oke what is that supposed to mean? Sendok sup
saya menggantung di udara. "If you go through some street in Jakarta,
you would see bunch of people standing in the side ofthe street, raising
their hands like asking to get in the car." kata Joanne , sembari
memeragakan dengan tangannya. Well, baiklah ternyata mereka sedang membicarakan joki 3-1. Alangkah lucunya. Saya ketawa pait dalam hati.
Mungkin memang sudah saatnya saya mengeksplor habis-habisan kehebatan kota Jakarta. Lain
waktu kalau bertemu dengan orang-orang asing yang ngebet sekali pingin
diceritain soal jakarta, i could go blabbing like, "Yeah sir, you should come to Glodok. We have a set of cheap sound system that you would not
find it anywhere in the world. Or would you like to take a tour by ojek? We don't have MRT but we have ojek, it is the fastest public transportation in Jakarta. It is fast, cheap
and you could go blow drying your wet hair in a short minute. Or wait, this is good, "Come to Jakarta if you want a cheap nice cigarette, you wouldn't regret, sir!" Next time some stranger throwing a question about Jakarta, i really do hope he is a smoker.
And.. here it is, a few photos from Mary Mccartney photograph exhibition held in Singapore.
